1. Disaster Preparedness Exercise
Teacher In Charge of Compassvale have emailed Miss Chan and Compassvale Secondary will
be sending about 44 Cadets for the activity. However, 19 of them are are Secondary 1 Cadets, who are not trained in First Aid and will be observing the activity. So I suggest that these cadets will the casualties.

Logistics for DP: Please ensure that all necessary things are ready by them (Especially those that
has to be borrowed from headquarters, or if you are liasing it will Compassvale to bring them)

We would have a DP Meeting after the ULP Camp and comfirm all necessary things like
positions and manpower.

OIC for DP, remember to inform Sir Alvin of the date of the actual disaster preparedness and
upcoming meetings for DP.

2. Current Affairs Competition
Competition Format

A. Poster (40 Marks)
-Single Sided A4 paper on topic allocated, printed/hand drawn
-300 Words write up to elaborate on poster, in Times New Roman, size 12, single line spacing

-Judging Criteria
Creativity 10%
Content 20 %
Written elaboration 10%

-Posters together with write up to be submitted in soft copy to rcycac2009@gmail.com by 3rd july 2009, Friday 1700 hours

-After recieving, ensure to receive an acknowlegdement mail no later than 3rd july 2009, Friday 2000 hours, or else immediately contact the CAC09 Secretary, Madm Esther at 90065359

-Late submissions will be penalized/disqualified
-Actual posters is to be brought on actual day of competition

B. Quiz (80 Marks)

-Each team will select ONE SET of question, consisting of THREE questions per set
-Each team member answer ONE question
-All three questions from a set will be of a different topic, from the four topics covered, in no particular order

-Teams will start with TEN points from their inventory, for amount of points put in play, it will be awarded/deducted
-Minimum of ONE and no maximum points to be put into play, when team's point falls to ZERO, they will disqualified

-Questions are OPEN ENDED, requires full explanation to convince judges
-An answer will be deemed correct, if 2 judges are in favour of it (there will be 3 judges)
-1 Minute is given to answer each question

C. 1 Minute of Fame (30 Marks)
-Can be song, debate, animation, presentation, etc of free play

-Teams can put into play from their inventory. Minimum of ONE and no maximum points to be put into play, when team's point falls to ZERO, they will disqualified
-If 2 judges are in favour of it points will be awarded (there will be 3 judges)

-Teams can in anyway make use of full use of time allocated showcase on the topic that they have done on their poster, with intentions to bring the message across
-Any props required are to be self prepared, for animation and presentation- request for projector, contact Secretary

Current Affairs Scope: Last year and this year

Topics
i. Climate change and increasing environmental disasters
ii. Access to basic amenities and healthcare facilities
iii. Pandemics and epidemics
iv. Effects of war on relationships

*3 of the Topic will come out in quiz in random order
*For poster and 1 minute of fame, topic will be allocated.

And for Ang Mo Kio Secondary the topic for Poster and 1 minute of fame will be:
i)Climate change and increasing environmental disasters

Venue: Compassvale Secondary School's School Hall
Date: 18th july 2009, Saturday
Time: 0830 hours to 1300 hours
Attire: Full Red Cross Uniform


Awards
:RCV Gold will only be awarded if teams emerges as award recipients
(only if minimum criteria of RCV Silver is met)
:National Top Team will be receiving the prestigious Landyard
